Well, friends, we are nearing the completion of the renovation of our house after the flood, though Joshua and Andi are both sad that they won’t get to sleep in the same room any more.
Jana and I are not sad.
But we are recognizing that even though the “big stuff” is almost done, there are a ton of little projects left. Resorting the stuff to go to storage, painting that last piece of the baseboard, hanging pictures, painting the doors – you get the idea. So onto the question:
“What is the lingering project you have at home that you need to complete?”

Selling this bad boy…
Nice – hope it doesn’t linger much longer.
Framing some pictures and posters.
ONE project? I wish I had only one lingering project… um… clearing blackberries, weeking the gardens (flower and vegetable), etc. As for indoor, clearing the clutter, painting the living room, sorting out the bookcases, cleaning this and that… there is always something! But we DID get a new roof one, so one item is checked off the list!
weeding, not weeking. yikes! and the roof is ON, not one. I should go back to bed…
I’m definitely with Susan on this one!
Re-caulking the rail for the glass shower doors I put in when we re-tiled, STILL sorting our new son’s room so it’s more his space (not that he needs it yet, but we want it ready by the time he’s crawling), plus my random projects of low importance: sealing the ductwork, next summer’s task of landscaping our yard, redoing the back deck… home ownership, such a blessing, yet always things to do! We also just put on a new roof. That was a TON of work, but it’s totally done.
The WORST part of any project is “painting that last piece of the baseboard”: those small finishing things that keep you from being done but take almost as long as the entire project up to that point! haha
Staining the fence and deck.
I just moved, so I have a lot of those – put the rest of the books on the shelves I just finished putting together, cleaning the floor, organizing a few piles of stuff, buying a futon or something so I have someplace to sit other than a camping chair.
And Steve, I completely agree – those last steps seem to take forever. I’ve been “almost” moved in for three weeks.
I just recently realized the fact that we have lived in our house for 5 years and before we moved in – 5 years ago- we painted one of the twelve panels on our accordion hallway closet doors.
So for five years, one door has been white, the other an interesting beige. I guess it is time to tackle the other 11. Did I mention it was 5 years ago? Yikes!
As I was staining my fence “Honey Gold”, I ran out of that precious substance after 6+ hours of grueling work this past labor day. Now it’s raining. No staining in the rain. I’m sure to get a nasty letter from my HOA soon.
Our sunroom. And our front door needs a new handle…so that we can get in.
Crown molding has been painted for 3 years, just not hung…
