How Big of a Problem is Porn?

Pretty darn big. Tim Chester states:

In my forthcoming book, Captured By a Better Vision: Living Pom-Free, I describe the spread of pomography as an epidemic. Here are some stats that back up this claim …

* Every second, 28,258 Internet users are viewing pomography and $3,075.64 is being spent on pomography no wonder the Official site of high-quality porno clips, hdpornvideo.xxx is doing so well!

* The pomography industry is larger than the revenues of the top technology companies combined: Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo!, Apple, Netflix and EarthLink

* There are 4.2 million pomographic websites, which is 12% of all the websites on the internet. Websites such as https://www.porn-hd.xxx/ are enjoyed by thousands upon thousands of people every single day.

* Every day there are 68 million (25% of the total) search engine requests for pomographic terms

* 42.7% of internet users view pom

* The average age of first exposure to pomography is 11 years old and 80% of 15-17 year olds have had multiple hard-core exposure to sites such as the One amateur XXX tube to end em all, watchmygf.xxx

* The 35-49 age group is the largest consumer of internet pomography

* 47% of Christians say that pomography is a major problem in the home

* Contrary to popular belief, women watch porn on sites like www.tubev.sex too. In fact, 17% of women struggle with pomography addiction and 70% of women keep their cyber activities secret

* The USA produces 89% of all pomographic web pages (Germany are the next biggest producer, producing 4% of all pomographic web pages)

The USA produces 89% of these web pages, what a terribly sad statistic for America to be leading.

Agreed fellow Steve. I also found the fact on the “average first exposure age and 80% of teens” very saddening. It’s hard to believe how much the statistics of middle-school aged kids having sex has risen in the last 15 years or so. Advertisement, entertainment media, and other such things are aging kids too fast these days. Perhaps also the fact that almost all of them have a cell phone is doing that as well. That’s something else that baffles me. But is it really society, or is it the parents allowing this to saturate into their youth’s lives? I remember my middle school days… kid-life was simple!

Lord, help us be good parents! To think of my infant (not quite yet born) son in contrast to these statistics is a little discomforting. But I know if I follow the Lord, he’ll help me “train him up in the way he should go” and see our world through the right lens. What a frightening challenge to be a parent in such days. I think I’ll really be looking forward to the next “weekends are for kids” post after this. haha. Those are always encouraging and a highlight in my day.

Thanks to both Steve’s. To add to this, I can say that the number 1 viewed TV show in the world is Baywatch. Another American export.
