Joshua’s pretty smart. And he remembers and retains a shocking amount of information. Here’s one example. We were reading his Bible story the other night out of his kids’ bible. It’s not the real Bible, but summaries of stories and books. So we were finishing it, and the summary was about Revelation. And in that summary, there was a reference to Satan being defeated. Just one line. Here’s how the conversation went:
“Daddy? Who’s Satan?”
“Satan? Well… uh… Satan is… the enemy of God.”
“Oh. I don’t like him.”
“Me neither.”
“Does Satan always lie to us?”
“How (the heck) did you know that?”
“Like in the garden? When he lied to Adam and Eve?”
Silence.
“I suppose that’s right, Joshua. But that’s one reason we need to pray, because Jesus always tells us the truth.”
“And He can beat Satan, right?
“Right.”
“Okay. Good night.”

Have you tried the Jesus Storybook Bible? LOVE it–just wish there were more stories!
That’s actually the one we’re using now – we love it too.
